New York Casino Opponents Attend Rally

NEW YORK – As reported by the Hudson Valley News: "Governor Pataki, the State Senate and State Assembly may have left Albany at the end of the regular legislative session far apart on a deal that could bring casinos to the Catskills, but casino opponents say this is no time to relax.

"About 40 attended a Casino-Free Sullivan County pep rally in Liberty Thursday night, and brought in some power speakers.

"Rev. James Audlin, of Akwesasne Mohawk descent, who prefers the name 'Distant Eagle', argues what is happening now amounts to a' "trashing' of the constitutions of New York, the United States and the Iroquois Confederacy…"
