New UK Lottery Delayed8 May 2006UK – As reported by ITV.news: "A new lottery which organisers claim is a "fairer" alternative to the Lotto will be played later than billed because of its popularity. "Called 'Monday - the Charities Lottery', the new game is said to give players better odds of winning smaller cash prizes than the current lottery. The draw will now take place at midnight rather than at 8pm because of an overwhelming response. "Chariot (UK) plc, chaired by former Camelot boss Tim Holley, is marketing the lottery which sees players choose six numbers between 1 and 49. Tickets can be bought by over-18s by direct debit, at PlayMonday.com or by postal subscription. "Ticket sales are capped at 2 million for each of the five charities selected weekly on a rotating basis from 70 UK charities, giving a weekly maximum of 10 million available tickets. British Heart Foundation, Shelter, RNID, Born Free and CLIC Sargent will benefit from tonight's draw…" |
