New Pennsylvania Sands casino gets test run

BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania -- As reported by The Morning Call: "In the largest first-day test run of a Pennsylvania casino, more than 4,000 people wagered nearly $1.7 million at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem on Monday, raising almost $64,000 for Lehigh Valley charities.

"With another test run scheduled today for invited guests, state Gaming Control Board officials say it's too early to determine if Sands will get a final OK to open to the public Friday, but they reported no major problems that would delay that.

"'There are always little things we want to improve on and do better with, but overall it was a great first day,' said Sands spokesman Ron Reese. 'We're looking forward to another one Wednesday...'"
