New Orleans' Casinos Set July Record

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – As reported by the ABC News: "Gamblers dropped more than 55-million dollars at the four New Orleans area casinos in July.

"For Harrahs New Orleans, July was a record month. The downtown casino took in nearly 29 million dollars. The Treasure Chest in Kenner made just over 10 million dollars. Boomtown reported earnings near 11 million dollars. Bally's brought in just over 5 million dollars. The calendar can be credited with part of the success. There were five weekends in July, compared with four Fridays and Saturdays in most months.

"However, gaming analyst Larry Pearson says the calendar is only part of the puzzle. He says the marketing efforts of Harrahs and the three boats are starting to pay off. And, he says Harrahs will likely keep growing…"
