New Orleans Casino Says Tilt Gave False $1 Million Jackpot10 July 2000A gambler at Harrah's Casino in New Orleans thought he hit a $1 million jackpot Sunday, only to be told there was something wrong with the machine. The machine displayed a "tilt" message and casino workers told the man they could not pay him the jackpot. Harrah's officials did not immediately release the name of the gambler. The casino will ask for a State Police investigation to determine if the jackpot was real or was the result of a machine malfunction. In November, a Tennessee couple sued the casino claiming that Harrah's wouldn't pay them a $1.4 million jackpot because of a machine malfunction. That lawsuit is still pending. |
