New Orleans Casino Proposal Rejected

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – As reported by the New Orleans Channel News: "The City Council on Thursday rejected a proposed gambling development in New Orleans East.

"The plan was to build a truck stop with video poker machines near Village de L'est off Chef Menteur Highway.

"…Developer Andrew Le said the truck-stop casino would have been the anchor for a $10 million multicultural' strip mall.

"Dozens of opponents went to City Hall to show their opposition, and acting on the recommendation of Councilwoman Cynthia Willard-Lewis, the council voted unanimously to turn down the development…"
