New Mexico Group's Letter Seeks to Block Casino

ANTHONY, New Mexico -- As reported by the Associated Press: "Seven state lawmakers are appealing to U.S. Interior Secretary Gale Norton to reject a proposal to build a casino near Anthony, saying it would set a "horrible precedent that would cause irreparable damage to New Mexico."

"The Committee to Protect Dona Ana County, which formed to oppose the proposed casino, released the letter Saturday.

"It was signed by five members of the state House and two members of the state Senate, among them three Republicans and four Democrats..."
