New Mexico Developers Offer More Money29 September 2005NEW MEXICO – As reported by the Las Cruces Sun-News: "The developers of a proposed Anthony casino will offer the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners more money and other concessions at its Tuesday meeting. "Since two new members came to the commission in January, the commission has become increasingly cold to an agreement passed last December between the county and the Jemez Pueblo, in which the pueblo agrees to provide more than $500,000 annually to the county to compensate for an increase in services needed. "The pueblo played up the agreement as an endorsement in its application to the federal government to build the casino, though the agreement states that it is not an endorsement by the county. Commissioners have considered backing out of the agreement and have been negotiation with the pueblo for months…" |
