New Jersey to have referendum on gambling on professional sports4 November 2011TRENTON, New Jersey -- Next Tuesday New Jersey voters will be asked to vote in a referendum on gambling on professional sports, according to the Star-Ledger. If approved it would be the first step towards legalizing sports betting in New Jersey, the report said. If defeated Gov. Christie described the would-be question of sports betting as "dead", the Star-Ledger reported. Sports betting is being considered as a boost to Atlantic City's struggling casinos, the report noted. |
