New Jersey senate considers smoking loophole

NEW JERSEY – As reported by the Cherry Hill Courier Post: "As the Senate Health Committee considers closing the loophole which permits smoking on the casino floor today, at least one gaming hall expects to go 100 percent smoke-free.

"The Tropicana Atlantic City would instead create nongaming smoking lounges in various locations throughout its huge casino.

"…An ordinance approved by city council on Feb. 7, and signed into law by Mayor Robert W. Levy, limits smoking to 25 percent of the gaming floor. Temporary partitions must be in place by April 15. Companies have five months from the April date to submit plans to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for permanent separations between smoking and nonsmoking areas…"
