New Jersey Assembly Passes Gaming Legislation16 November 2004TRENTON, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: " The State Assembly passed legislation late Monday that would move slot machines to the gaming floor quicker and allow outside vendors such as the House of Blues to share in casino revenue. "The bill had been temporarily shelved by sponsor Assemblyman Jeff Van Drew, D-Cape May, Cumberland, Atlantic, until the resolution of the Local 54 strike. It now heads to the Senate. "The bill allows vendors who contribute at least 10 percent of the capital investment of a project worth $30 million or more to share as much as five percent of a project's revenue growth. That gives the House of Blues the opportunity to share in the profits of a proposed $65 million expansion project at Showboat without violating the Casino Control Act. "…The Assembly passed the bill unanimously." |
