New Iowa Casino Christened10 September 2004IOWA – As reported by the Sioux City Journal: "Siouxland leaders Thursday christened the gambling boat that docked here a few weeks ago and is three times larger than the one that preceded it. "'Our old boat, The Bell, had served us well for 10 years, but we had outgrown the boat,' said Jesus Aviles, general manager of the Argosy Casino. "The Argosy IV features a higher ceiling, chandelier, half-million dollar smoke filtration system and increased entertainment opportunities such as a comedy club and live bands on weekends. "More than $20 million was invested in the project, and $6 million was spent on the lighthouse a couple of years ago, according to Aviles. He said the casino has an annual payroll of more than $12 million and pays that much money annually in state and local property taxes.
