New Illinois Casino Bill Expected Soon

ILLINOIS – As reported by the Daily Southtown: "With the state's 10th license in Rosemont's hands, the General Assembly is expected to revive the idea of adding more casinos in Illinois.

"An East Moline Democrat plans to introduce a bill this week in the state Senate that would steer an 11th and 12th casino license to Waukegan and Country Club Hills. A similar bill flopped last year after Gov. Rod Blagojevich signaled his distaste for expanding gambling.

"But faced with another tight state budget and no desire to pursue a sales or income tax increase, lawmakers are willing to float the idea again and hope Blagojevich signs on. Outrage over awarding the state's last gaming license to Rosemont set a perfect scene for Blagojevich to bend on his campaign promise, supporters say.

"'The intent is to come up with a bill that may get out of the Senate, and maybe the governor can live with it, maybe not,' state Sen. Denny Jacobs (D-East Moline) said.

"…Jacobs said his bill could be revised before he introduces it…"
