New Hampshire casino partners with Kowloon to open new restaurant

19 September 2024

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Brook, located 40 miles from Boston, is thrilled to announce the opening of 9 Dragons, the highly anticipated collaboration with the legendary Kowloon restaurant.

Inspired by the vibrant Kowloon district in Hong Kong, The Brook’s newest restaurant showcases a blend of Kowloon favorites, which have been popular for over five decades, alongside new signature culinary creations.

The expansive space features multiple dining areas, exclusive private event space, and an elevated cocktail lounge named Forbidden City.

Forbidden City features signature cocktails, including the “The Year of The Dragon” mai tai and a sharable scorpion bowl, and will play host to regional and national DJ talent.

“9 Dragons, which is literally the translation of the Cantonese word ‘Kowloon,’ is the perfect metaphor for what we have created with this new restaurant,” said Bobby Wong, whose family owns and operates Kowloon on Rte. 1 in Saugus, Massachusetts. “9 Dragons, in many ways, takes us back in time, a time when my parents first opened the restaurant in Saugus. Despite being smaller in size and menu, the Kowloon captivated the crowds that would come with an imaginative new food and design.

“But make no mistake about it, 9 Dragons is not Kowloon. It is a totally different culinary and creative experience, though it shares a common history and culture with its older cousin.”

“It has been fantastically fun creating 9 Dragons and Forbidden City with Bob and his managing partners,” said The Brook’s CEO Andre Carrier. “We set out to not just design a restaurant, but an experience. All of us at The Brook are humbled to now be a part of the story of this legendary brand. We are very proud of the wonderful culinary and service team we have assembled and we all vow to serve the legacy of great food, great fun, and great memories.”

The Brook has undergone a massive transformation since 2019. Now America's largest charity casino, it boasts over 500 gaming machines, table games like blackjack, roulette, craps, and Cajun Stud, a lively poker room, and New Hampshire's only Stadium Gaming experience with live dealers and digital screens.

Sitting less than five miles from the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border, the 75-acre property is also home to the DraftKings Sportsbook, the largest of its kind in New England, featuring a new 144-foot-wide and 9.5-foot high 4k video wall. Lucky's restaurant pays homage to a local gambling legend's culinary passion, while Seasons Showroom, a sophisticated 300-seat venue featuring plush couches, cozy booths, and a dedicated bar, hosts a rotating lineup of musical acts, tribute bands, and comedy shows.
