New Gambling Boat Free to Set Sail21 June 2006LONG ISLAND, New York -- As reported by Newsday: "A controversial casino gambling boat grounded two weeks ago by a judge's order after facing opposition from Islip town officials and Bay Shore residents is sailing again. "Acting State Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey Arlen Spinner last week lifted a preliminary injunction granted to the town against Atlantic Capital Partners, owner of the 175-foot Southern Elegance, which took passengers out twice last weekend from its berth in Bay Shore Marina. "In court papers, Islip said the boat violated town code by docking at the marina and 'creates a continuing risk of environmental harm to the waters and bay bottom.' "...Millionaire real estate developer Lou Modica, who rents the dock to Smith, said, 'The town is misinformed, malinformed and uninformed.'..." |
