New cars and big pots up for grabs during pro football season at Commerce Casino

5 September 2008

COMMERCE, California -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Usually a "bad beat" is something poker players dread. But suffering such a setback at Commerce Casino during the professional football season can actually net players cash winnings and a brand-new Honda Accord.

Each Monday evening from September 8 to December 22, Commerce Casino will conduct a drawing where the winner receives a new Honda Accord. That's 16 cars given away over 16 weeks, with the drawings taking place during Monday Night Football broadcasts. To qualify for the drawings, players only have to be seated at Commerce Casino's special Jackpot games when a Jackpot prize is awarded.

At these select games, Jackpots are granted when a player loses a hand with aces full of tens or better to a competitor holding four of a kind or better. Both players must also use both hole cards. The "bad beat" hand receives 60 percent of the jackpot while the winning hand receives 20 percent, and the other players at the table split the remaining 20 percent. All players at the table then have their names entered into the raffle for the new car. Players lucky enough to be at tables on several occasions for Jackpot awards will have their names entered into the drawing multiple times.

"When football season comes around each year we do something special for our players," said John Griffo, Commerce Casino's Development Manager. "This year the casino has decided to give cars away. If you're at a table when a Jackpot is awarded, your name goes into the hat and stays there until the final December 22 drawing. Long story short, play Jackpot poker at Commerce Casino anytime during the 16 weeks and a shiny new Honda Accord could be sitting in your driveway."
