New Brunswick Tribe Seeks Damages

WOODSTOCK, New Brunswick – As reported by the Canadian Press: "New Brunswick's Tobique First Nation is seeking more than $262,000 in damages from a group of dissidents who took over the reserve's casino complex in June.

"In a statement of claim filed with the Court of Queen's Bench, the band alleges 11 named individuals and others used threats and intimidation to take over the complex between June 7-20.

"…Among the named defendants is band councillor and former candidate for chief David Perley."
