Nevada Tourism Campaign Aimed at RV Travelers5 December 2000RENO, Nevada – Dec. 5, 2000 – A $1 million promotion is being launched to draw recreational vehicle owners to Nevada to counteract competition from Indian gambling in California, the state Tourism Commission said Monday. Lt. Gov. Lorraine Hunt, chairwoman of the commission, said RV travelers don't spend all of their time on the road. "They visit our communities and enjoy meals, casinos, entertainment, sightseeing, historic and cultural sites and retail shopping," Hunt said. The commission will conduct a sweepstakes beginning Jan. 20 at the annual RV show at Quartzite, Ariz., and will give away up to six luxury Winnebago motor homes as grand prizes over a three-year period. Visitors may enter the sweepstakes up to five times -- once in each of Nevada's geographic tourism territories -- and no purchase is required. Entry forms will be available at 58 RV parks and state parks outside of metropolitan Las Vegas. |
