Nevada Supreme Court to Rule in Casino Kidnap Case15 October 2003CARSON CITY, Nevada – As reported by the Associated Press: ``The Nevada Supreme Court has been asked to decide whether a woman can sue Caesars Palace after being kidnapped from a parking area at the Las Vegas resort where she was working as a cocktail waitress. ``Lisa E. Malbasa's estranged husband, Douglas Kearns, who had been a roulette dealer at the resort, allegedly kidnapped her and raped her before shooting himself to death during a standoff with Las Vegas Metro police in 1998. ``Clark County District Judge Valorie Vega issued a pretrial judgment in favor of Caesars Palace ``…But Richard Segerblom, Malbasa's lawyer, on Monday urged the Supreme Court to overturn that decision…" |
