Nevada Bill Proposal Would Allow Casinos at Time Shares22 March 2001CARSON CITY, Nevada –March 22, 2001 –As reported by the Associated Press: “A Las Vegas legislator has proposed a bill that would allow Las Vegas Strip-area time share projects to have casinos - a plan likely to face opposition from the gambling industry. SB419 by Sen. Mike Schneider, D-Las Vegas, would change current state law that restricts new casino gambling licenses in the Strip corridor to resort-hotels. To be eligible for a casino license, a property has to meet the state's `resort hotel’ definition. That means a minimum of 200 hotel rooms, one 30-person bar and a 60-person, 24-hour-per-day restaurant. Schneider's bill would allow time share projects to share the resort designation. …Schneider said he conceived the idea for the plan on his own, and didn't introduce the bill on behalf of current or prospective time share operators…” |
