Nepal: Midnight raid on casinos1 June 2009KATHMANDU, Nepal -- As reported by the Kantipur Report: "Metropolitan Police on Saturday night raided all seven casinos but failed to make any arrests, though the casinos were jam-packed with Nepali gamblers, thanks to 'prior information' passed on to casino management. "High-level police officers suspect that the local police personnel who receive money from casinos on monthly basis leaked the information about the raid. "...A highly placed casino official admitted that they helped Nepali gamblers to escape following the information about the raid. The gamblers made their escape through emergency doors as the management rang bells to alarm them about the raid..." |
