Nepal: Casinos ordered to quit Kathmandu4 February 2011KATHMANDU -- Eight casinos in Kathmandu have been ordered to relocate outside the capital, and four "mini" casinos have been told to close by the Nepalese parliament, IANS reported. The order comes after casinos have failed to pay the State revenue they owe and fears that illegal gambling is causing crime increases in Nepal, the report explained. Police have been raiding casinos over the past year, after murders and extortions incidents, IANS said. Technically Nepalis are not permitted to gamble in casinos, the report noted. |
