Nebraska Vote is Lost Shot at Casino Gambling

OMAHA, Nebraska – As reported by the Omaha Channel: "The Nov. 2 election is Nebraska's last shot at casino-style gambling.

"Three sides of the expanded gambling debate met Tuesday to debate the issue a week before Nebraska voters decide the issue.

"The two groups pushing for gambling -- Yes on Amendment 3 and Keep the Money in Nebraska -- said this could be the last chance for the state to tackle gambling. They say they've spent a lot of money and time on this campaign and don't know if they would do it again.

"Keep the Money in Nebraska wants Nebraska voters to approve two casinos in Omaha and up to 4,900 slot machines across the rest of the state. If voters don't OK it, they may not get the chance again, said the group's representative Julie Plucker. Amendment 3 backers agree. Amendment 3 was passed by the Legislature and would allow two casinos somewhere in the state.

"…Those opposed to gambling -- led by the group Gambling with the Good Life -- said it would be great of this really is voters' last chance…"
