Nebraska Commission Sets 2004 Racing Dates

NEBRASKA – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "Racing in Nebraska next year will begin on February 14 when Fonner Park in Grand Island opens a 38-day live meet that will run through May 8.

"The Nebraska State Racing Commission needed only minutes to set dates for the state's 2004 racing season on Wednesday. No opposition was voiced as commission Chairman Dennis Lee and commissioners Robert Volk and Janell Beveridge voted in favor of a schedule proposed by the tracks.

"…State Fair Park in Lincoln will conduct a 34-day meet from May 14 to July 11. A four-day meet at Horsemen's Park in Omaha will be held from July 15-18. Agricultural Park in Columbus, Nebraska, will hold a 25-day meet from July 23 to September 12. A two-day meet at Horsemen's Atokad Down in South Sioux City set for September 18-19 wraps up the live racing year…"
