NCAA Won't Oppose Casino Funded Stadium Renovations

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – As reported by the Indianapolis Star: "The NCAA, which has been outspoken in opposition to sports gambling, does not oppose Mayor Bart Peterson's plan to finance a new retractable roof stadium mostly with gambling money.

"'The NCAA never gets involved with how states or cities fund stadiums,' association president Myles Brand said.

"…Peterson's plan relies on revenue from 'pull tabs,' which are similar to slot machines. The NCAA has committed to regularly conducting major events in Indianapolis, including the men's and women's…"
