N.H. residents frequent Connecticut casinos9 February 2007NEW HAMPSHIRE – As reported by the Portsmouth Herald: "New Hampshire residents made nearly a half-million separate trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun during the past 12 months, according to a behavioral survey released recently by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Policy Analysis. "The survey, Part 3 of a seven-part survey determining New England residents' attitudes toward casinos and slot parlors, found that New Hampshire residents, who comprise approximately 3 percent and 2 percent of Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun patrons respectively, made more than 466,000 trips to the southeastern Connecticut casinos during the past 12 months. Approximately 92 percent of New Hampshire residents visiting Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun are 30 years of age and older. "Overall, 1 in 5 New Hampshire residents surveyed -- approximately 19 percent -- reported visiting either Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun in the past 12 months, with women comprising 62 percent of New Hampshire residents visiting the Connecticut casinos and men accounting for 38 percent of New Hampshire's casino visitors. "…By income, 89 percent of New Hampshire residents visiting the two Connecticut casinos reported having annual incomes of $45,000 or more, including 39 percent who had annual incomes of $75,000 or more. |
