Multimedia Games Installs Lottery Terminals at Pechanga Casino22 December 2003AUSTIN, Texas -- (Press Release) -- Multimedia Games, Inc. (Nasdaq: MGAM) announced today that it has installed the first 267 Point-of-Sale Terminals for a new Tribal Instant Lottery Game at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California. Pechanga Resort & Casino is California's largest hotel/casino. Multimedia Games' ("Multimedia's") new, proprietary linked central-determinant Tribal Instant Lottery Game ("TILG") system was first made available to Pechanga's patrons last Friday evening. Multimedia participates, on a recurring basis, in the net gaming win of the new point-of-sale terminals. Pursuant to the gaming compact entered into with the State of California in 1999, compacted tribes have the right to offer Class III gaming devices and certain forms of lotteries in their gaming facilities. Multimedia has converted 267 of its Class II player stations already installed at Pechanga to new units for the TILG system, which are located in the main gaming room of the casino. Approximately 130 remaining Multimedia Class II player stations will remain installed in overflow locations at Pechanga to meet periods of high customer demand. The new TILG system runs on Multimedia's Gen4 operating system, and is capable of offering local- and wide-area progressive games. The new one-touch game is based on a simulated scratch-off lottery ticket, and employs Multimedia's central determinant system technology. Clifton Lind, President and CEO of Multimedia Games, commented, "The new California Tribal Instant Lottery Game System is an exciting opportunity for us and our tribal partners. This is the first of several new systems and products for Native American gaming facilities that we expect to roll out during the current fiscal year. Our system and products provide an excellent opportunity for the California tribes to optimize revenues from their gaming facilities for the betterment of their sovereign nations. It has been a pleasure to work with the leaders of the Pechanga nation on the initial installation of this lottery system. On a related issue, we continue to work with both compacted and non-compacted tribes in California to secure additional placements of Class II interactive electronic standard-sequence bingo game player stations. "As we previously indicated, fiscal 2004 will be a period during which Multimedia leverages its technological strength and knowledge of Native American gaming to deliver new gaming products and opportunities beyond our traditional Class II and Class III business models. The California Tribal Instant Lottery Game is a Class III participation system, and is one of several new products that we expect to introduce during this fiscal year, each of which utilizes the unique strengths of our central determinant system and employs a different business model." With its initial California Tribal Instant Lottery Game product, Multimedia further diversifies its Class III revenue sources. Multimedia's revenue sources now include Class II gaming, Class III gaming in Washington State, charity bingo products, and beginning in early 2004, participation in the recurring revenue generated as a result of its role as the central determinant system provider for the network of video lottery terminals to be operated by the New York Lottery at licensed New York State racetracks. |
