Multimedia Games debuts on Austin American-Stateman’s List of Top Workplaces 2012

30 November 2012

AUSTIN, Texas -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Austin may not be the obvious choice for a casino gaming company’s home base, but the city’s people make it a great fit for Multimedia Games Holding Company, Inc. An emphasis on its employees is not only engrained in the Company culture, but is a major reason behind the Company’s success. Multimedia Games’ investment in its employees can be seen most recently as the Company was named in the Austin American-Statesman’s list of Top Workplaces for 2012.

“Being in Austin helps us draw creative and technology talent that is critical to developing casino games that stand out from our competition,” said Patrick Ramsey, President and CEO of Multimedia Games. “These employees, who are core to everything we do, are a true competitive advantage for us. That is why focusing on our culture and embracing Austin is so critical.”

Founded in 1991, Multimedia Games currently employs 274 Austinites and over 431 people nationwide, having added 74 new employees in 2012. With the Company’s position as an innovator and one of the leading providers of interactive gaming systems, Multimedia Games expects to continue its local growth trend in the year ahead.

Community engagement, and working towards benefiting the Austin community, is also a critical part of Multimedia Games’ culture. Since 2010, Multimedia Games has partnered with local charities to raise awareness for those charities at the Company’s annual picnic for employees and their families. All proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets, t-shirts and concession stand items, along with donations, benefit these charities. For its 2012 annual picnic, the Company and its employees raised more than $5,000 for the Town Lake Animal Shelter and Caritas of Austin, a provider of food, classes and other items for the homeless, the working poor and documented refugees in Travis County. Employees are encouraged to donate their time by volunteering at the Community Kitchen at Caritas of Austin and the Company has supported the Capital Area Food Bank by organizing food drives during the holiday season. Multimedia Games also sponsored the 21st and 22nd Annual Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot in 2011 and 2012, respectively, with over $265,000 raised in 2011 for Caritas of Austin.

Nominations submitted to the Austin American-Statesman for Top Workplace are compiled by an independent research group, WorkplaceDynamics. The outside firm conducted anonymous surveys on each of the nominee companies, asking employees to rate their employers on matters such as leadership and direction, ethics and values, and how well employees are treated. Following the analysis of the results, WorkplaceDynamics grouped the top employers in categories based on the number of employees.

Mr. Ramsey concluded, “Developing a top workplace is a key priority for everyone at Multimedia Games and we realize it is a continuous process that we have to focus on each and every day. Not only does participation in this process give us recognition for our hard work, it also helps us focus on what we need to do to improve our employee environment and achieve our workplace goals.”
