Mount Airy awards contracts

PARADISE TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Mount Airy Resort & Casino announced today that it has awarded three new construction-related contracts to local Pennsylvania firms as it moves forward with its $412 million investment in the Stage 1 construction of the resort. The contract awards are in keeping with owner Louis DeNaples' promise to ensure that Mount Airy contributes to the continued economic growth of the Pocono Mountain region and Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Local companies receiving contracts as part of this latest announcement are:

-- The G. Weinberger Company of Old Forge, PA to provide HVAC and plumbing services;

-- GC Fire Protection System of Lake Winola, PA to provide sprinkler and fire protection services; and

-- Duggan and Marcon, Inc of Luzerne, PA to provide drywall and acoustical services.

These companies join numerous other Pennsylvania businesses that are already providing materials, supplies, and services to the Mount Airy Resort & Casino as part of the construction process. Other companies that have received contract awards are McGregor Industries, Dunmore, PA; id Valley Contracting of Moscow; PA, Leeward Construction of Honesdale, PA; Cleveland Brothers Caterpillar in Wilkes Barre, PA; Eaton Electrical of Allentown, PA (with local office of Eastern Penn Supply Company, in Wilkes Barre, PA); and York International, of York, PA.

Also this week, Mount Airy Resort & Casino opened a second employment center on the site of the future resort as it works to fill positions for the opening of the facility in the Fall of this year. The Employment Center, located at 42 Woodland Road in Paradise Township is open from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
