More Casinos Switching to Ticket Technology6 January 2005BILOXI, Mississippi – As reported by the Biloxi Sun Herald: "Ethel Smith is finding fewer and fewer casinos to gamble in because she likes to do it the old-fashioned way. "She likes to hold the coins in her hand and insert them one by one into a slot machine. "…More and more casinos are converting to the ticket in, ticket out technology, which converts money to a piece of paper than can be exchanged between nickel and quarter or any other denomination machines. "The technology saves labor costs for casinos and limits the potential for work-related injuries. Slot technicians lifting heavy containers of coins are susceptible to back injuries. "But slot technicians are complaining because they no longer receive the tips they did when they gave personal assistance to gamblers. "The coinless trend isn't likely to change no matter how much anyone complains…" |
