More Casino Activity in California's Future

PALM SPRINGS, California -- As reported by the Palm Springs Desert Sun: "The Agua Caliente tribe's new $95 million gaming facility at Spa Resort Casino is the latest addition to the Coachella Valley's tribal gaming scene, but there is much more activity on the horizon.

"In 2003 alone, two other tribes broke ground on major expansion projects, and a third announced funding for its continued growth plans.

"On top of these, another tribe just east of the valley in Imperial County completed a gaming pact with the state, clearing the way for what is likely to be this region's seventh Indian casino.

"…At the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, which like the Spa Resort is owned by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, general manager Ken Kettler said the rise in upscale new casino projects will help the area compete favorably with San Diego and other regions vying for gaming customers.

"…The ultimate goal, said Casino Morongo general manager Bill Davis, is to get more people from around the Inland Empire, as well as Los Angeles and Orange counties, into valley casinos…"
