Moratorium on pokie cap in Queensland expires

QUEENSLAND, Australia -- Queensland has approved 1,000 more pokie machines, according to the Herald Sun.

A previous moratorium on pokie machines since 2008 ended in April, the report said.

Tax on pokies is between 30 and 35 percent at clubs and casinos and is a signifant contributor to the government's budget, the Herald Sun noted.
