Monthly slot machine revenue in March is second highest to date3 April 2013HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Trailing only the amount of revenue generated last March, slot machine revenue in March of this year at Pennsylvania’s casinos tallied the second highest monthly amount since the opening of casinos in 2006. The overall combined revenue figure for the 11 Commonwealth casinos was part of the monthly report posted today on the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s web site. The total gross revenue of $229,335,372 was 1.6% lower than March of 2012 when casinos produced the highest amount of slot machine revenue, $233,147,479. The total this March, however, exceeded the previous second highest monthly total of July 2011 when gross revenue was $218,300,465. The Board also reported that tax revenue generated in March of this year just from slot machine play was $123,428,074. In a comparison of just the ten casinos operating in March 2013 that were also open for the full month of March 2012, revenue was 3.9% lower this year. Valley Forge operated for only one full day plus two test nights in March of last year. The average number of operating slot machines throughout Pennsylvania at the 11 casinos was 26,215 in March 2013, slightly less than the average of 26,344 slot machines operating daily during March 2012. |
