Montana Horse Racing Supporters Start Petition

MONTANA – As reported by the Missoulian: "Do you like horse racing?

"Get in line to sign the list.

"'We hope to get quite a few. Our minimum goal is no less than 1,000 signatures,' said Bobbie Blodgett, a supervisor at Lucky Strike Casino and one organizer of an effort to catalog enough popular support to save horse racing at the Western Montana Fair.

"Blodgett and others plan to present the petition Tuesday to the Missoula County commissioners at the courthouse at about 2:45 p.m. At the Tuesday meeting, the commissioners could vote to suspend the races.

"…Costs have risen. The heaviest betters have sought other gambling venues. Even the number of horses has declined…"
