Mohegan Sun Scores Big By Hosting Davis Cup

CONNECTICUT – As reported by the Mohegan Sun: ``How do you convert the Mohegan Sun Arena into a top-notch tennis court worthy of world-class play?

```Think of a mouse pad,' says Jeff Ryan, director of USA team events for the United States Tennis Association, and the man whose job it is to ready the arena for the first-round Davis Cup match between the United States and Austria at Mohegan Sun this weekend.

``The 'court' arrived at Mohegan Sun last week, shipped by tractor-trailer, where it was painted in shades of green, a darker color for the interior, and a lighter shade on the outside

``The U.S. team is expected to begin practice at Mohegan Sun today, while the Austrian team is practicing at the Lyme Shores Sports Club in East Lyme.

``…The hard court for the U.S.-Austria matches is actually a thin pad, about 1/16 or 1/18 of an inch thick that is pieced together over the concrete floor.

``…At Mohegan Sun, converting the 10,000-seat arena from one use to another is just another day at work…"
