Mohegan Sun hosts John Mellencamp

9 October 2007

UNCASVILLE, Connecticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- John Mellencamp is gearing up to embark on a winter tour here in the States, bringing his songs, music and voice to arenas across the country. Amidst the action, he will be making a stop at Mohegan Sun on Friday, December 7th at 7:30pm with special guest Los Lobos.

Tickets are $57.00 and $42.00 and go on sale Saturday, October 13th at 10:00am through Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster customers may log on to; call any Ticketmaster Charge by Phone number; or visit any Ticketmaster outlet. Tickets may also be purchased at the Mohegan Sun Box Office starting Sunday, October 14th subject to availability.

John Mellencamp and his touring band -the same group of musicians who record with him- will bring a broad spectrum of his repertoire to Uncasville, reflecting four decades of recording and performing. Mellencamp and the band, consisting of Mike Wanchic, (guitar), Andy York (guitar), Dane Clark (drums), John Gunnell (bass), Miriam Sturm (violin) and Troye Kinnett (keyboards) have been in Mellencamp's Belmont Mall studio as of late, near Bloomington, IN, working on a new album project being produced by T- Bone Burnett. The performance at Mohegan Sun will preview some of the new material and also include some of his most classic hits including "Hurts So Good," "Jack and Diane," "Wild Night" and "Our Country." Mellencamp is among the nine artists nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year. Five new inductees will be honored at the annual ceremony in New York City next March.

Los Lobos are best known for their 1987 commercial hit when the band's remake of Ritchie Valens' "La Bamba," from a biopic of the same name, topped the pop charts. Though future albums did not duplicate the commercial success of "La Bamba," the band won Grammy's for a 1988 Spanish-language album and for their contribution to the film Desperado. Their most recent effort, The Town and the City was released in 2006 to strong critical reception.
