Mohegan Sun hires design team

MOHEGAN, Connecticut – As reported by the Norwich Bulletin: "A world-renowned resort design team that is joining casino and tribal officials for a major announcement Thursday said it has been hired to design the long-anticipated Mohegan Sun expansion.

"The Mohegan tribe is planning to roughly double the casino's 1,200 hotel rooms and add to its more than 6,000 slot machines and its table games, according to the Associated Press. Details of the expansion will be announced Thursday.

"Mohegan Sun, which has been celebrating its 10th anniversary, has about 10,000 employees and expects to add another 2,000 in the next five years. The tribe's casino attracts 35,000 visitors daily and generates about $1.5 billion annually in revenue.

"…The Mohegans will be joined Thursday by the president of Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo, an architectural and design firm with offices in Orlando, Seattle, Honolulu, Newport Beach and London, England.

"…The group announced Monday that it has been hired to provide master planning, architecture, interior design and landscape design for the Mohegan Sun hotel and casino…"
