Mohegan Sun heats up midweek

3 July 2007

UNCASVILLE, Conneticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Forget about TGIF. Mohegan Sun is making the midweek just as exciting with theme nights every Tuesday through Thursday during Mohegan Sun's Hot Summer Fun festivities running June 30th through September 3rd.

Start the week off right and save a little cash with Mohegan Sun's "Two For Tuesdays" specials. Each Tuesday from July 3rd through August 28th, enjoy dining specials at some of Mohegan Sun's favorite restaurants including the Seasons and Sunburst Buffets, where from 3:00pm to 10:00pm, diners can purchase two buffet meals for the price of one. An array of gourmet and traditional fare are available at both restaurants.

But it's not just the buffets getting into the action. Ben & Jerry's is making sure everyone cools off and enjoys the summertime staple in any of the 50-plus flavors offered with two for one specials on small cones, while Starbucks Coffee will wet your whistle with their buy one vente drink, get one free. When curbing your hunger, be sure to stop by Lucky's Lounge or The Dubliner, where you get two slices of pizza for the price of one or swing by Geno Auriemma's Fast Break for two for one Philly Cheese Steaks.

"Two For Tuesday's" is not just limited to food. Mohegan Sun is offering a number of specials on retail items throughout The Shops at Mohegan Sun as well. At Yankee Candle, buy two 22oz jars, and get one free, while at Spin Street, purchase any book at regular price and get the second book of equal or less value for half off. While Michael Jordan's is serving up specials on their signature glassware (buy two glasses for $18.00 and receive two free), America's Memories offers guests half off any second item after the purchase of one item at regular price.

As the weekend gets closer, the excitement heats up with "Thrills & Chills Thursdays." Press your luck with one of two tournaments offered each Thursday starting July 5th and running through August 23rd. Whether it's the excitement of hitting blackjack or the thrill of three sevens on the slots, test your luck with Mohegan Sun's weekly tournaments.

"Scorching Slot Tournaments" will be held in the Hall of Lost Tribes located in the Casino of the Earth each week at 5:00pm where the prize pool will be worth $15,000. Ten percent of players will receive a free entry into the August 30th finals where guests will be playing for a $50,000 prize pool.

Over near Wombi Rock in Pit 22, gamers will have the opportunity to hit 21 with the weekly "Blazing Blackjack Tournaments" at 5:00pm. Prize pools for these tournaments are $20,000. 36 semi-finalists will receive a free-entry into the Finals where the prize pool will be worth $75,000.

Not to be outdone, Mohegan Sun's bars and lounges are sure to offer up some Thrills & Chills of their own with a number of drink specials. Whether it's martinis at Leffingwells or wine at the Taughannick Falls Bar, there is sure to be something for everyone at Mohegan Sun's "Thrills & Chills Thursdays."

Mohegan Sun is currently in the midst of Project Horizon - a $740 million expansion that calls for a new 1,000-room hotel, featuring 300 House of Blues-themed rooms and an exclusive members-only House of Blues Foundation Room. The expansion also includes 115,000 square feet of additional retail and restaurant space, and a new 64,000-square-foot "Casino of the Wind." In addition, Project Horizon expands Mohegan Sun's Asian gaming experience in the Casino of the Earth with the opening of Sunrise Square in the summer of 2007. Upon full completion in 2010, Project Horizon is expected to add more than 1.4 million square feet to Mohegan Sun's existing structure.
