Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs exceeds expectations7 May 2007PENNSYLVANIA – As reported by the Norwich Bulletin: "Visitors to Pennsylvania's first casino have dropped more than twice as much money into slot machines at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs casino than originally estimated, according to a spokesman for the state's Gaming Control Board. "During the week of April 23, the most recent data available from the gaming control board, each of the 1,109 slot machines at Pocono Downs generated almost $430 per day. "Board estimates had slot machines at the combination casino and harness horse racing track just outside of Wilkes-Barre generating $180 per day in revenue for Pennsylvania. "…Casinos in Pennsylvania can have up to 5,000 slot machines. Pocono Downs has had between 1,000 and 1,200 machines in operation since it opened in mid-November. In that time, visitors have played $787.9 million at the casino's slot machines. All but $76.8 million of that amount has gone back to Pocono Downs' visitors…" |
