Mobile Betting Expected to Rise

UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by NetImperative: "The use of mobile phones to enter lotteries and competitions will generate $74.3m in revenues in Europe this year, rising to an astounding $788m by 2006, according to the latest report on mobile gambling by Juniper Research.

"`Lotteries are very simple to do and are low cost. They keep coming out in our research as very popular.' said Paul Skeldon, senior analyst at Juniper Research and author of the report on Mobile Gambling Services.

"Skeldon attributes the popularity of the National Lottery in the UK to the growth in lottery participation on mobile phones.

"…Mobile betting has emerged as the second largest revenue generator in mobile gaming, and will generate $74.3m in revenue across Europe by the end of the year, rising to $788m by 2006.
