Mixed-Use Vegas Project Appeals to All6 October 2005LAS VEGAS – (PRESS RELEASE) -- As Las Vegas Boulevard stretches south, one gaming company is poised to take advantage of the emerging South Strip corridor. With Olympia Gaming's new $750 million Southern Highlands Casino-Resort from the real estate entrepreneur that developed Southern Highlands, the highly successful 2,700-acre master-planned, residential community, the complexion of the South Strip is taking shape. With an ultimate build-out in excess of $2 billion, the 100-acre project is the south Strip's largest development to date and promises to be a luxury, mixed-use destination that possesses the amenities and attractions of a top Strip resort combined with the value-driven experiences of a neighborhood casino. Given its location on Las Vegas Boulevard South at St. Rose Parkway, a major arterial to Henderson, the project will appeal to both locals and tourists alike. Bounded to the west by Interstate 15, the project is the literal "gateway to Las Vegas" and the first major casino-resort travelers will see when entering the Las Vegas Valley from California. "Increased population growth and market demand have made the South Strip the next area of resort development," said Garry Goett, President & CEO of the Olympia Gaming and developer of Southern Highlands. "Our location will take full advantage of the I-15, St. Rose Parkway, and Las Vegas Boulevard corridors to attract both tourists and locals including residents of Southern Highlands, Silverado Ranch, Anthem, Seven Hills, Green Valley, and other surrounding communities," Goett added. The project is scheduled to break ground in fall 2006 and open its first phase in summer 2008. "I envision constructing a spectacular development that is an attractive alternative to the Strip," said Goett. "With an eye towards the locals market, a cornerstone of our business philosophy will be providing our guests with a great price and value combined with a quality entertainment experience and personalized attention," said Goett. "Our approach embodies gaming excellence, unrivaled customer service, quality attractions, and a strong connection to the community," said Goett. "We want out-of-towners and locals alike to enjoy the standards of excellence and neighborhood pride we've established throughout the Southern Highlands community," Goett added. The first phase of the 100-acre master-planned site will include 50 acres of resort and casino development and an additional 20 acres featuring a retail and entertainment destination. The initial phase will include: * 610 generously-sized hotel rooms and suites, each appointed with rich amenities and featuring breath-taking panoramic views of the Las Vegas Valley * A spacious casino including a wide array of slots and table games, a tournament-style poker room, and a state-of-the-art race and sports book * Several acres of pools, gardens, and lush grounds featuring a lazy river, sun deck, main and private pool areas * A high-end spa, fitness center and salon facility * A large-scale convention and meeting facility * Over a dozen fine dining and casual restaurant venues * A multi-level entertainment venue accommodating headliners and musical productions * A retail and entertainment destination featuring unique shops and dining establishments "We are creating a casino-resort that provides guests with multiple entertainment options whether its a day of shopping, dining, gaming, or relaxing you will be able to do so all in one place," said Goett. Joining Goett in the development of the Southern Highlands Casino-Resort are Olympia Gaming's Chief Operating Officer Sean Sullivan, Chief Financial Officer Kirk Saylor, Chief Marketing Officer DC Graham and Patrick Done, President of the retail division for Olympia. The Olympia Land Corporation's current profile includes the very successful 2,700-acre Southern Highlands master-planned community and the prestigious Southern Highlands Golf Club. Its portfolio also includes some of the most desirable and high-profile real estate projects and property in Southern Nevada. |
