Missourians Gambling More

MISSOURI – As reported by the Kansas City Star: "Missourians gambled more than ever in the past year but may have enjoyed it less.

"The average casino patron in Missouri lost a record $60.02 per casino visit -- up sharply from $56.37 a year ago, according to the Missouri Gaming Commission's annual report for the fiscal year ended June 30.

"The report also showed several categories of crime at riverboat casinos increased slightly while the number of Missourians legally banning themselves from the state's 11 casinos ballooned.

"The commission reported applications for Missouri's self-banning program for troubled gamblers rose 15 percent for the year, more than double the projected level. The total has now reached 8,900 banned gamblers…"
