Missouri Town Won't Oppose Gambling in Ozarks2 June 2004HOLLISTER, Missouri – As reported by the (Springfield, Missouri) News-Leader: "This Taney County town won't be joining Pete Herschend's crusade to keep casino gambling out of the Ozarks. "…The Board of Aldermen stopped short of adopting a resolution Tuesday that would have endorsed a lawsuit expected to be filed today in Jefferson City. "The suit is an attempt to block a statewide referendum asking voters to permit casino gambling in Rockaway Beach, said Herschend, co-owner of Silver Dollar City and a high-profile detractor of the proposal. "Casino gambling in Missouri should be limited to riverboats on the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, Herschend told Hollister's elected officials at a special meeting.
