Missouri Relaxes Gun Rule

JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri – As reported by the Associated Press: "The state Gaming Commission voted Wednesday to relax its rule against allowing guns in casinos in accordance with a state law, but patrons still shouldn't expect to be able to strap on a six-shooter while sitting at the poker tables.

"Although given the power to permit concealed guns at their businesses, Missouri casino owners and managers are likely to continue their current ban on weapons.

"…A law enacted last year, when legislators overrode Gov. Bob Holden's veto, allows most Missourians age 23 and older who pass background checks and firearms training courses to receive permits to carry concealed guns.

"…To conform with the new law, commissioners approved a rule change Wednesday that would give casino owners or managers the authority to let people bring firearms into their casinos, but require them to immediately notify the onsite commission agent of the gun carrier's identity."
