Missouri officials approve casino agreement

SUGAR CREEK, Missouri – As reported by the Kansas City Star: "Sugar Creek still wants a casino.

"The Sugar Creek Board of Aldermen on Wednesday approved a funding agreement between the city and Wild Rose Entertainment, a Des Moines, Iowa, gaming company. The agreement moves the city a step closer to a mixed-use development that would be anchored by a casino.

"…Wild Rose Entertainment will assume the option the city holds on property near the Missouri River, Salva added.

"Wednesday's action represents the small city's second formal attempt to build a casino within its boundaries. About 10 years ago Sugar Creek was one of many Kansas City area municipalities eager to receive licenses from the Missouri Gaming Commission. At the time the city's plans included a hotel and an 18-hole golf course, all on the south banks of the Missouri River…"
