Missouri Gaming Revenues Break Record14 April 2004MISSOURI – As reported by the Kansas City Star: "…The Missouri Gaming Commission reported that monthly gross revenues — gamblers' net losses — were a record $57.8 million last month, up 6.5 percent from March 2003. "The previous record, $57.2 million, stood for one month as Kansas Citians so far this year are gambling at an unprecedented rate. "Commission analyst Jim Oberkirsch noted that March growth 'could have been even stronger' if the calendar hadn't dropped two weekend days, compared with March 2003. "…Kansas City was no anomaly. Missouri's 11-riverboat market grew 5.5 percent, to a statewide monthly record of $123.6 million, while the St. Charles Ameristar Casino set a one-boat state revenue record in March of $25.5 million. "…And Kansas City had a busy tourism month in March, with tens of thousands of visitors who had come to attend sporting events, conventions and other activities looking for entertainment options…" |
