Missouri County Prepares for Casino Proposal

MISSOURI – As reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: "The St. Louis County Council on Tuesday set a timetable to decide whether to support a proposal for a riverboat gambling casino complex in Lemay. It may reach a tentative decision as early as May 18.

"…At the May 18 committee meeting, council members will discuss whether to support Pinnacle Entertainment's proposal for a $300 million casino, hotel, retail and entertainment complex on an 80-acre site.

"Because of the crowds expected at the hearings, people will be able to speak at only one session for two minutes.

"…They said the casino would bring $25.5 million a year in new tax revenue to the county and local governments and encourage economic development in the area…"
