Missouri Casino Opponents Won't Appeal Court Decision

JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri – As reported by the Associated Press: "Opponents of a proposed casino in the southwest Missouri town of Rockaway Beach said Thursday they will not pursue any further legal action before an Aug. 3 statewide election on whether to authorize the casino.

"…Supporters gathered enough petition signatures to put the measure on the ballot. But opponents had filed a lawsuit, claiming the amendment would violate existing parts of the constitution.

"Cole County Circuit Judge Richard Callahan dismissed their lawsuit last week, saying it was too early to decide most of their issues…"
