Missouri Bill Taps Casino Revenue

MISSOURI – As reported by the Columbia Daily Tribune: "After a battle that divided Missouri universities, two Columbia lawmakers are hoping to change the subject.

"Rep. Chuck Graham and Rep. Jeff Harris, both Democrats, this week introduced a bill that aims to provide new money to all public universities by tapping casinos and people who work in Missouri but live in other states.

"…They would scrap a law that limits casino patrons to $500 worth of chips or tokens every two hours, increase the gross receipts tax on casinos and change the casino admission fee from $2 every two hours to $4 per day.

"…Graham estimated that the package would raise $100 million to $200 million annually, although that estimate is based partly on figures from the gaming industry…"
