Mississippi Sports Betting Ring Busted

MOSS POINT, Mississippi – As reported by the Mississippi Sun Herald: "A monthlong investigation has led to the arrests of four people accused of operating an illegal gambling house.

"The arrests occurred early Saturday after Jackson County Sheriff's deputies and agents with the Jackson County Narcotics Task Force, patrol division and sheriff's reserves, raided Paradise Lounge, 6506 Shortcut Road.

"…While dockside casino gambling is legal in the state, betting on football games and other sporting events is illegal.

"Investigators said they found the suspects allegedly using spreadsheets to bet on football games. Authorities seized more than $2,700 in cash and gambling paraphernalia from the suspects and the lounge…"
